Sagano Bamboo Forest is one of my favourite places from Kyoto, and a good way to rest from visiting the many temples of the city.

When I look at this image, I can see more than enough detail to make my eyes walk around it for a while as I enjoy it.

At this time I was visiting the forest during the early morning. The sun was coming up and at times showing its light in quite a shy way. It would happen during small lapses, and the light would reflect strongly, creating contrast against the bamboo branches. Every few seconds, a very shallow wind would hit the forest and shake all the bamboo. I believe it creates a vision with a very interesting mix of vibrance and calm that I don’t find often.

What can I say? It feels magical. I hope to be able to come back to Kyoto at some point during the cherry blossom season and visit this exact spot again.
